We strive for continuous improvements
Our factory lies in the heart of Västerbotten. Around us we have almost endless wilderness and forests. For us, the feeling for nature and the environment is part of our heritage and an essential part of everyday life.
Regardless of whether we are talking about production or material, the environment is at the heart of everything we do. Whichever stairs you choose from our range, you will be making a good environmental choice. We strive for continuous improvements. To the benefit of you, the customer, and the environment. We are not satisfied until you are satisfied.
The Earth's forests offer a wide variety of wood types. However, due to environmental consideration not all of them can be used. Those that we have selected and offer you are from forests, plantations and suppliers who work with sustainable forestry. Despite having rejected some woods for environmental reasons there are still plenty to choose from.
We minimise our carbon footprint
We work constantly to minimise our carbon footprint. From efficient transport logistics to small emissions. Changing stairs can be done with good environmental conscience
According to analyses and environmental declarations from SP Trätek, the average carbon emission in the manufacturing of a standard lacquered staircase is roughly 32.4 kg. This corresponds to driving a normal family car about 160 kilometres, but the difference compared to car fuel is that wood is carbon-dioxide neutral because it is a renewable resource.
Your staircase can be recycled at the end of its useful life. This is done mainly by energy recovery. Wood contains a lot of energy and it can be reused. Roughly two per cent of a staircase consists of metal in the shape of brackets, screws, etc. The metal is all recycled.
As much as 94 per cent of a standard staircase consists of renewable raw material. Two percent consists of steel fittings which are recyclable, and only four percent has a fossil source. In the process from transportation to ready product, 88 per cent of the energy used is bio fuel and electrical power (mainly from environmentally friendly sources, such as hydroelectric power). Facts from SP Trätek's Environmental Declaration.
